Committing film piracy does not just mean that you are breaking the law. It also means that you are negatively affecting the very film industry that you seem to love. If you are not providing support for the film industry then it could slowly deal to the end of it. If you look at the pirating numbers, some movies receive millions and even tens of millions of illegal downloads. That is a lot of money lost out on that could have been reinvested by the individuals behind the film.

There are already some examples of filmmakers quitting the business because of the film piracy ordeal. There are also many people involved in the film industry that have not been able to put out as much content because they lose financial backing from DVD sales, movie ticket sales, and more.

You really have to support the industry and pay for movie tickets, rentals, and DVD's if you want to see it to continue to prosper. If you do not provide financial support for up and coming individuals in the film industry then you may not get as much content from them.

The fact that you are breaking copyright infringement laws on the content should also be worrisome to you as it is a prosecutable offence.

By committing film piracy you are putting yourself at risk of being fined $250,000 or more. Depending on the specific act of piracy you have committed you may even be sued for millions of dollars. The more serious legal outcomes are mostly for those that are reproducing film in high quantity and distributing it for a profit.

You should not think that you would not get caught for film piracy either. A lot of people do get away with it but there have been many cases of individuals being caught and prosecuted by intellectual property lawyers. Film piracy may save you a few dollars here and there but is it really worth it? By saving $25 and pirating just one movie you could put yourself at risk of being on the wrong end of a four, five, or even six figure lawsuit. The risk and consequences involved with committing film piracy is really not worth it.

If you want to truly enjoy watching the movie and support the film industry then the answer is simple. All you have to do is stop breaking the law and spend the few bucks to rent it, buy it, or watch it in the cinemas.
